£750 raised in two days

On Friday 28th August, friends and family joined together the day after the wedding of Lisa’s brother Ross and his new bride Donna Enticknap for a curry night at the Royal Jaipur in Landford and raised £340 for the charity.

On Saturday 29th August a party was held at Nomansland to celebrate Lisa’s mum, Tricias 60th birthday, her brother Andy’s 50th birthday, and the recent wedding of Ross and Donna.  A signed photograph that had been donated to the Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund by Celine Dion was raffled and raised £410.

On Thursday 27th of August, Lisa’s brother Ross got married to Donna Enticknap. The wedding took place at the Larmer Tree Gardens in Dorset and they were joined by thirty guests. The evening event saw a performance of the Huckleberries before Ross and Donna departed for their honeymoon.

The winners of the 7th Lisa Wilson Golf Day were as follows:

Men’s Winner – Nick Lear

Ladies’ Winner – Liz Sims

Junior Winner – Jamie Hughes

Guest Winners, Ladies’ – Wendy Stoddard

Guest Winners, Men’s – David Hayward

The 7th Lisa Wilson Golf Day took place on Saturday and, despite the dismal weather, there was a fantastic turn out of over 130 member and four dozen guests to play in the golf competitions.
The prizes were presented to the winners by former Saints legend, John Sydenham, who was over in Southampton on a visit from Australia where he now resides.
Just under 250 people turned up for the evening event to see John present prizes and star cabaret from comedian Mr Mike Osman, which was followed by two great sets from Abba Revival which had the dance floor heaving.
A raffle took place which raised just under £1,000 and the silent auction for sports memorabilia raised a further £450.
The event was a fantastic success with provisional profits for the evening at being over £7,500 which is by far the best total to the Wellow Golf Day.

Many thanks to all concerned, we look forward to seeing you next year when the date has been set for August 21st.

Henry Perkins, the young British dance student whom the Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund has sponsored, has just received the highest set of dance examinations results for any non-Russian ballet student in the history of The Bolshoi Ballet School – he was also awarded more than full marks for two disciplines and beat all the Russians at Russian national Dance! He is currently in New York where the school has taken him to demonstrate pas de deux, repertoire and Russian national Dance – the first non-Russian they have ever taken anywhere to demonstrate for them.

Once again the annual golf day at Wellow where Lisa worked and played golf will be taking place this summer. The event, which has always been well supported, is open to
members with a separate competition for friends and sponsors of all standards. Always a day to be remembered, this year’s evening event will be headlined by ‘Abba Revival’ on their ‘Mamma Mia’ tour. The host and comedian for the evening will be BBC Radio celebrity Mike Osman.

The donation from the That’s Life magazine sees the total money raised to date hitting £170,000, a truly remarkable tribute to Lisa’s legacy which continues to help less fortunate young adults achieve their educational dreams and ambitions in the way Lisa did. Lisa was incredibly proud of her BA 2-1 in Business Management that she achieved at Southampton Institute (now Southampton Solent University). She would be incredibly proud to know that to date some 35 students have benefited from the charity that was set up in her memory.

As well as this, a recent raffle organised by the staff at Southampton Solent University raised £176 for the charity.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

National magazine ‘That’s Life’ picked up on the massive publicity that had been generated by story of Lisa’s stolen journal, and the subsequent return of it by the thief, and decided to publish it. The story was run in edition 12 of the magazine on March 22nd. The magazine offered to pay Lisa’s mum Tricia £500 for the story which has been donated to the charity.
